Labor, Delivery and Recovery Unit
The Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Unit is a team that provides a wide spectrum of obstetrical and labor care by obstetrical and gynecological specialty physicians, certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, nationally certified obstetrical registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and administrative staff. This team is committed to providing comprehensive family centered care to all active duty Soldiers and their dependents. The team's goal is to partner with the patient and family to ensure a safe delivery based on personal and medical needs.
During the delivery in one of seven labor rooms, guests present are based on the patients preference. During an operative section in one of two Labor and Delivery's operating room, only one guest may be present. A waiting area is available to allow for patient preference and medical need during procedures such as labor evaluation and epidural placement to be accommodated. Siblings under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. For the safety of newborns on Labor and Delivery, visitors who are not siblings and are under 12 years old are not allowed on the unit. In addition, guests with cold or flu-like symptoms desiring to visit a patient or newborn are not to visit the unit.
Telephone consultation or evaluation of labor symptoms is available through one of four triage rooms on Labor and Delivery. Any emergent issues for patients less than 20 weeks pregnant will be directed to be seen in the Emergency Center. For non-emergent issues, 20 weeks and above, Monday through Friday during normal business hours, please call the OB clinic at 270-798-8151. For any emergent issues, 20 weeks and above during weekends and after hours, please call 270-798-8090 or come to Labor and Delivery to be evaluated in a triage room.
