Blanchfield Army Community Hospital has six suites in the main Operating Room section with eight surgical specialties: Orthopedic, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Podiatry and Oral Surgery. The patients served include active duty service members, beneficiaries and retirees. Any restrictions are based on capacity limits of specific surgical specialties.
Typical access to surgical services begins with your Primary Care Manager. If your PCM refers you to a surgical specialty clinic, you will be evaluated by one of our specialty providers. If surgery is indicated, you will be scheduled to visit the Pre-Procedural Unit. During your PPU visit, a nurse will interview you, send you for required tests, compile your chart, and provide pre-operative instructions. If you are to have surgery and return home on the same day, you will be given a number to call for your report time to the Same Day Surgery unit. Some patients are scheduled to process through SDS with the intent of being admitted to the inpatient ward or the ICU after surgery.
Surgeries are scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If you have questions about reporting for surgery, call 270-798-8143.
